Shedding

Solo exhibition at Eks-rummet

Amager, Copenhagen 2024

One of the key themes in this practice is protection—both physical and psychological. This duality is essential. From protective gear and the surrounding world of objects, to internal, often improvised systems and methods for shielding what can sometimes feel like an overly soft and exposed core. Everything from police riot gear to self-care rituals comes into play. At its core, the question remains: how do we best protect ourselves? And what happens when that protection fails—or transforms?

The title Shedding carries its own layered meaning: to shed a tear, hair, or a worn-out pelt. But also, in a more practical sense, a shed—as a structure that offers shelter. The exhibition revolves around the notion of transformation and molting: the peeling away of layers, and the vulnerable waiting period until a new outer shell has taken shape and hardened.

Shedding consists of a series of sculptural works, all relating to the human body, accompanied by large-scale photographic pieces.
