(activated) Cavity
Suggestion for integrated work at Professionsskolen Metropol at Sigurdsgade in Copenhagen.
2016
The project takes a distinctly material approach. The large agora at Sigurdsgade, with its concrete and reinforcement bars, is a heavy, massive, and static space within the building. (activated) Cavity enters into dialogue with these qualities. The work seeks to introduce organic forms, lightness, transparency, and to reveal the space’s inherent movement.
The installation consists of a series of seven banners in varying sizes. They are visible from all floors, and depending on one’s vantage point, they overlap and interact in shifting ways—new compositions continuously emerge. The photographic works are printed on a transparent, lightweight fabric that subtly responds to motion and activity throughout the agora and across the levels—suspended, breathing with the space.
